What is a passport?
A passport is an official recognized government document that certifies one’s identity citizenship permit’s a citizen to travel abroad.
How long is a passport valid for?
A passport’s validity is determined by the applicant’s age: Age 16 and above validity is for 10 years and for age 15 and below is 5 years validity.
When do I need a passport to travel?
It depends upon the province you are aiming to visit. Most countries require a permit to enter. However, many regions require a passport to gain entry.
Do I need to obtain a separate passport for my child?
All persons, including newborn infants, need to get passports in their own names.
Is there any reason for my passport application to be denied?
The most common reason to withhold passport applications is because of applicants not submitting the required information.
One reason for Passports rejection is that of the Criminal reasons.
Which address needs to be mentioned in the passport?
We need to mention the present address in the ID proof as they print the same on the passport. It carries a verification from the police to check if you are living at the mentioned address or not.
If I am not available for police verification for passport?
If you miss your police verification, they might give you a time limit to go to the police station to verify your documents.
If you don’t complete this, your passport might get rejected. Then you need to go to a regional passport office, close your file and re-apply for a fresh passport.
What is ECR passport?
ECR passport in full form is (Emigration Check Required). If you have not passed class 10th; then your passport will come in ECR (Emigration Check Required) categories. It means you have to get approval from immigration office every time when you are traveling out of India.
How to know if my passport is ECNR?
The ECNR in full form is Emigration Check Not Required passport. If you have passed 10th class or higher, then the category will be ECNR. You can identify the stamp with ECNR inside page if you are qualified in this category.
Which is better ECR or ECNR?
Non-ECR, formerly known as ECNR, means Emigration Check Not Required. In general, if you have passed 10th class/grade (Matriculation or Higher Educational Pass Certificate) or have a higher degree then your passport falls under Non-ECR Category.
Is it OK not to change surname after marriage?
Need for Surname change after marriage
There is no demand from law to change a woman’s last name/surname after marriage. However, if the woman uses a spouse’s last name/surname in any statutory document or deposits which request for valid documents, thus she would have to make the name modified as per the valid process. Women and Men are open to use any name they wish.
What happens if I don't add my spouse name to my passport?
If you don’t wish to include spouse name in the passport, that is OK. However, including spouse name benefits in getting visa easily if you move overseas with your spouse.
What is a Passport Acceptance Facility?

What is the meaning of PCC in passport?
PCC in full form POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE is issued to Indian Passport holders in evidence they have applied for Residential Status, Job or Long-term visa or for immigration. They cannot issue PCC for individuals traveling overseas on Tourist Visa.
What is Normal Passport?

What is Tathkal passport?
Tatkaal application means quick verification and faster processing. Passports issued are dispatched within 1-3days.
How do I renew my passport after it expires?
You can apply for a re-issue of passport up to 1 year before the completion or within three years after the expiry of the existing passport without fresh police verification, provided there is no variation in personal details and there is a good police report regarding your old passport and there is no negative.
What is the process for lost passport?
Loss of passport should be immediately updated at the nearest Police Station and to the Passport Office or Indian Mission, if abroad. You can apply for “Re-issue”of passport at your nearest PSK and acknowledge the requested documents along with your passport application form.
What is considered as a damaged Indian passport?
Mutilation /defacing of passport by getting it torn /cut, damaged by water, or any other liquid or deliberate attempt to change /alter the information provided in there is a damaged passport.
What is Jumbo Passport India?
Indian travelers, who frequently like to go on trips, can and should apply for a jumbo passport in order to sort their travel problems. A normal passport that contains 36 pages and lasts for 10 years. Whereas in Jumbo passport, you get a 60 page booklet for 10 years.
How can I remove my husband name in my passport after divorce in India?
Procedure To Remove Spouse Name from Indian Passport Application need Old Passport original along with self-attested photocopies of the first and last two pages of it. Self-attested copy of the Divorce Certificate or spouse’s Death Certificate.
Can Government employee change her surname after marriage?
If the Government employee desires change she should give a proper intimation to her appointing authority of her marriage and apply for a change in her surname. Need to give the details of a spouse for making necessary entries in the Service Book.
What happens if you miss your passport appointment?
If applicants with confirmed appointments cannot visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)
because of some reason, we advise them to reschedule/cancel their appointments.
How many times passport appointment can be rescheduled?
Appointment rescheduling/cancellation for an application is allowed for 3 times only and within a year from the initial appointment date visit to a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).
Can I edit my passport application?
You can’t change after submission on your own, but it is a simple process. Once you visit PSK,
you can make a request to edit details, produce supporting documents otherwise if payment isn’t done, fill a fresh form with accurate details. After making payment, the only way you have is concern PSK.
Can we cancel passport appointment?
If the applicant for any reason cannot visit the Passport Seva Kendra, should either cancel the session or reschedule the appointment. However, the cancellation or rescheduling of the interview can be done only two times in the year from which they allotted the initial date of appointment.
